Searching for threads

I'm a big proponent of searching the message boards before creating a new troubleshooting post. Unfortunately, searching for error messages is practically impossible when the error message phrase contains words with less than four characters.

Under such circumstances, should I use Google instead?

Or try exclude short words from the query.
