MySQL went down. As a result, all pages that use a database back-end were dead. Only John and James have priviledges to restart the service, so we had to wait for one of them to get online.

Hopefully this shouldn't happen again - I'm now arranging for our servers to be monitored 24/7 by the Verio staff. If anything goes wrong again, they will be able to bring everything back online without one of us having to intevene.
