Jesus Christ that image verification to just search the damn forum is annoying.

Eight times I've tried to read what it says. And for what, just to SEARCH the forum not even post.

And if you want to change your search, you can click back and the same image shows but it wants a new code that you can't even see.

VERY aggravating. It comes to a point of cutting off your nose to spite your face. Don't even let people search or post without a code, and don't tell them the code, and you'll have the ultimate safe system.

Image Verification for searches is only enabled for guests. Log in and you're good to go.

No, only guests can be forced to use an image verification.

Why do you click back? If you enter an incorrect code you are taken back to the search page, with your current search and given a new code.

Before I upgraded, my forum was brought to it's knees and the server was crashed as a result of some type of exploit script that kept launching searches at a high rate of speed.... image verification would do wonders against this type of exploit

Of course we did, then he comes back with a proxy, a friends computer, registers at the library ... uses girfriends computer, sneaks back in and crashes the server again, would be much easier if we could just figure out how to make image verification for any user group you choose... surely if someone can run a script to crash your server, they can skirt any feeble attempts at a ban we can throw at them.

Any DoS script on any service works, this is not specific to vBulletin.
