Not to sound rude or anything, but I'm just curious: Why does everyone want the favicon? I mean, I understand a little on the address bar, but never knew this many people were looking at it in their bookmarks.
Congratulations on the death of vBulletin, Internet Brands.

Favicon's help direct your eyes to the appropriate bookmarks. When you have many bookmarks it makes finding the right one easier.

Personally I have never seen any browser handle favicons consistently. I think they are a waste of time and energy.

I here ya Steve, they can be very frustrating at times.

I think Firefox does a very good job of displaying them consistently, but there are a few quarks that one needs to know about.

Would it be possible for you to update the favicon here on vbulletin.com? All you have to do is copy the one from vbulletin.org, it works properly.

I don't have access to the server to do that. Besides the one here does work fine on my FireFox.

Are you sure Steve, the bookmark everyone is having problems with is located on the left side of your browser window (ctrl-b). Be sure to delete any old bookmark and create a new one. The favicon will not show up.

I don't use FF very much. There's no way of getting around that this is a browser problem though. As I said I have never seen favicons work consistently in any browser. I really don't think there is much to be gained by spending so much time on this, but that's just me.

I found a Firefox extension that allows me to change the favicon, so my problem is solved.

I still think it would be in the best interest for vBulletin to correct their faulty favicon.

There is more than one way to implement favicon and a common problem is that if your cache is cleared you lose the favicons in your bookmarks

This thread has nothing to do with my favicon, it is dealing with a defective favicon here on vbulletin.com that does not allow the favicon on Firefox to show up next to the bookmark.
