error setting up tables

    This is what I'm getting

    Setting up tables...

    Reseting database...

    There seems to have been a slight problem with the database. Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

    An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.

    We apologise for any inconvenience.

    Cant get passed it. I can refresh and get the same error. Any help would be apreciated to a newbie at this.

    Post the complete error message. You can view it by looking at the HTML source for that page.

        It looks like your server's MySQL may not be able to handle vB:
Database error in vBulletin Lite Installer: Invalid SQL: DROP DATABASE IF EXISTS
Do you have a phpinfo.php file? If not create a text file with this content:
<?php
        phpinfo();
        ?>
Then upload it to your forum directory and post the URL here.

            The PHP and MySQL versions should work. I have no idea why you'd get an 'Inavild SQL' error.

            Did you create a database prior to running the install program?

              No I'm on step 4 where it says if you want to continue or reset the db. I try either and get that error. Not sure. Was I suppose to do something to the datebase before hand?

                I'm not sure. Can you create the database first and then try the install from the top? If your host provides CPanel you can create a database and database user with that.

                      Do you have CPanel?

                        I'm going to try to get a friend to set this up. I'm in over my head. I dont know how to do this. :( There is a control panel for Mysql where it allows you to setup the database but I dont know how. I dont know where I got the idea that it was easy to set this up. :rolleyes: :mad: I'm sure after I figure it out I will look back and laugh.
