    snagpic "clear.gif" posted by member

I caught a member today in one of my forums...here's the actual link:

    Code:
    www.snagpic.com/users/img/4092/n09x0302vnsn/clear.gif
A search on the net found multiple posts by others to photosnag with similar clear.gif 1x1.gif images on vbulletinforums.

Is this a possible cookie stuffing method?

    Please advise.

Did a little more research. There are upwards of around a thousand posts on the net with this img code in other forums, not just vbulletin.

I've noticed this on my forum over the last couple of weeks. The images link to photosnag and are clear.gif. The members are in china, and the some replies appear to be automated or are gibberish. Some replies are dead on, though, so are not all automated.

Have you learned anything more about this?

        Apparently there are two domains:
        http://www.snagpic.com/users/img/4092/n09x0302vnsn/clear.gif
        http://www.photosnag.com/img/4713/n09x0302vnsn/clear.gif

We are banning all such posters.

I've added snagpic and photosnag to the censored words list.

Not perfect, but may slow them down.

What is really needed is IMG tag permission controls for new posters.
