How to deny the @ from usernames?

As it appears an @ in the username causes various problems, like with userrights being denied, I want to deny users the use an @ in their username.

How must I change the regular expression to have the @ denied?

Add "@" to the illegal usernames:

ACP -> vBulletin Options -> User Registration Options -> Illegal User Names

I tried that, but that did not work.
I was still able to use an @ in the username, except that it gave other problems, which is the main reason I want to block it.

Perhaps my mistake, I shouldn't have used the quotes - try it again without the quotes.

Both with and without quotes do not work. I tried without quotes at first, but did try with quotes now just to be sure.

Adding @ to ACP -> vBulletin Options -> User Registration Options -> Illegal User Names denies the user name on my test board. Each character needs to be separated with a space though.

What are the problems that you are experiencing with the @ in the username? Its not a special character and isn't treated as such in the username itself.
