We are getting some very inflated view count figures on our threads. I've been through the support forums and can't see any other users who have experienced this problem so I'm guessing it's not a known problem.
We have an in-house search engine crawler and my thoughts are that this is hitting threads and bumping up the view counter each time it does.
Is there a way to exclude hits from a given IP from the view figures? I guess this may require a code change/hack, can anybody give me an ideal of where to look to find the code around this area of functionality - ie - where is the code that bumps up the view counter?
At a database level the view count appears to be held in the views field of the thread table. If there was a 'drilldown' of this figure that recoreded where the view came from etc we could use this instead. I cannot find a table that contains this sort of information, does it exist somewhere?
Any help gratefully received.
Thanks.
