    Is there a way to create a search query for each of those to accomplish their purpose? "Best" could be defined as receiving the most replies in the specified time period.

    There are no built-in function for this. You would have to write a custom script or use custom queries.

      How do I create a query without using an actual search term?

        Sorry if I knew the queries you need to do that I would have posted them. You can try www.vbulletin.org.

          I couldn't find much relevant info there.

          I did find this though: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=107955

          Can you tell me how the beforeafter variable is used?

          Variable name: beforeafter
          Values:
          after = and Newer
          before = and Older

            Doesn't work exactly like you want, but this mod seems to get the work done: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=184155

              Thanks, but I'm not really looking for a nomination system. I'm looking to make it easier for users to find the most active threads of certain time periods.
