Trouble with latest active thread and search field.

I'm having a few problems with some code on my side:

I have added Ultimate side columns and put in this code in the blocks:

Block 12: It only show new threads and not new posts, here is the code I used:

Block 13: the search field doesn't work, I used this code:

I asked a friend who is pretty good with code, he said he couldn't see what was wrong with the code and thought it might be something with java?

Note: I'm new at all this and have little experience with code, so far I've used trail and error but I'm a bit stuck here?
