Icon for forum with new posts

I display my sub-forums on home forum page. When a sub-forum contains a new post the icon changes properly but the icon for the parent forum also changes. I guess it's made like this for those who don't show their sub-forums on main page. Is this customizable somewhere?

That is the normal behavior. There is no option to change this. If you have some coding ability then you can post on www.vbulletin.org for help changing this in the code.
