    Invisible post

vbb: 3.6.8 Patch Level 2 with blog

Now this one is really weird...

Someone registers and posts. Their post appears in forumdisplay but if you click on the link, showthread does not display the post - there i snothing there but the menu bars, etc and if you click on New Reply, you get an invalid thread.

ONLY the administrator can see the post. Not even supermoderators can see it. ???

There are no moderation options and I have looked through all options and the user profile and can find absolutely no reason why this post is hidden.

    Any suggestions???

BTW- subsequent posts in same category as well as others appear fine

To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

[Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

    Next, disable all plugins.

Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

    define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it. Do you have the same problem?

Change CKEditor Colors to Match Style (for 4.1.4 and above)

I am going to bed, BUT...

      1. Did not reupload all files, but the Suspect File Versions only identifies non-vb files (related to my hooks). Everything else ok.

      2. Disabling all hooks had no effect.

The funny thing is that it is ONLY this single post, no others ???

Will try the new templates tomorrow. Thanx

        Well, didn't get to bed.

Changing the style to default made no difference.

The ONLy thing I did not do in your suggestions is to re-upload all the files. Will do if you insist, but the verification suggests that this is not the problem.

        All files present and verified
        Not the templates
        Not the hooks
