How do I setup system for people to opt in to restrict forum?

I am looking for a way, maybe through the subscription system, where I can have a forum that only select members have access to. It will be more 'everything goes' (no porn, but bad language will be frequent). I think we might have some younger members, but mostly we just have some members that don't like curses, so we want to keep them out of the forum.

Ideally, I would like them to have to go to an access page, read the rules, agree to the rules, state they are over 18, and then they are given access to the restricted forum. Hopefully, all done without admin involvement.

I would like to avoid doing this all manual, by PM'ng them the rules, and then manually changing their usergroup to one that contains that new forum.

Any ideas on the best approach??

I recommend you use a public joinable group. See this thread:

If you want join requests to be honored immediately then you can simply not add any leaders to the joinable group.

Is there a way to force them to read something, preferably check a box, like "I understand this is a minimally moderated group. I am over 18....."

Enter that into the group description:

Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> Edit Usergroup -> Description
