Vulnerability for hackers?

How well is vbulletin program built against hackers?? There is a hacker attacking another website just like mine and shutting it down all the time, he is now a member on my website and from what other members posted my website then shutdown for about an hour...I am sure he tested to see how easily it would be to hack my website...was just curious if there was anything I could do to prevent this from happening or to be less vulnerable for an attack??
