    Few users reporting browser problems viewing site...

    I've had a few users mention that when they view one of my sites, their browser closes down, "crashes" or freezes their computer entirely. Here is comments from two of them:

    I am having a tough time visiting this board in Internet Explorer.
    I will be reading a thread and the site just crashes, usually taking ALL the open IE windows with it.
    And I've tried visiting it in AOL and the entire AOL software crashed.
    No idea why this keeps happening.
    Anyone else having these issues?
    Thanks
    My computer has just now recovered from a meltdown that occurred while I was trying to make my intro posts! My first intro post got eaten (by the forum?) when I tried to preview it. My second intro post sent my computer to never-never land when I opened the smilies window (I couldn't even see the cursor on the screen) !!! It disabled every window/program I had open and I could not even reboot!!! Ugh. What craziness.
    Anyone have any ideas why this may be happening? I'm not quite sure how many people are experiencing this, but the majority doesn't seem to be having the problem. I certainly have not had the first bit of trouble with it.

    Thanks for any advice.

    There are no issues with vBulletin and Internet Explorer 5.5 and higher that would cause this as far as I am aware. AOL uses IE as its rendering engine as well.

    First, re-upload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version:

    Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

    [Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

    If that didn't solve the problem, disable all plugins.

    Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

    define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

    Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it. Now check again.

    Do you still have the same problem?
