I still used original setting from my real server. What should I do?

I would try specifying the cookie domain:
        .my.vb

Actually, the best way to do this, at least how I do it, is to use a "no-ip.com" dns service. I set up the forum on my local box, set up a no-ip.com entry for my WAN address and let my router allow http to the local box.

          For example:
          Router WAN: 10.10.10.10
          Local PC w/vB install: 192.168.1.10
          no-ip.com setting: myvb.no-ip.com @ 10.10.10.10
Firewall premits port 80 requests for 192.168.1.10

          just my $0.02

To run vBulletin on your local PC you need a program like LAMP or XAMPP which will install and configure a Apache, MySQL, and PHP installation on your local machine. You need all three running to run vBulletin on a Windows PC or on a Linux local machine. Check out those two programs. One of them will have a ready made configuration for your local machine and instructions on how to get it going.

I assumed he had a valid LAMP setup, he said it'd running, just won't login.

              I use WAMP5

But if he's running on his PC, in either XAMPP or LAMP, his browser address would tend to be http://localhost/hisforumname/.

                Something like:

yeah.... but without more info it's impossible to tell. Using no-ip dns tricks the computer into thinking it's going somewhere other than the localhost and should bypass the cookie domain issue (if there is one). Is it just me or are we just talking in circles?

Actually, we are both "speculating" in an absence of sufficient information.

As to your described configuration, running "Free Dynamic DNS" on a "localhost" for a "test forum" seems to be way more effort than is necessary with WAMP5 or XAMPP, UNLESS you are actually running it as a server with net or remote access.

Since juahari stated: "I need local version for tested my skins before I decided to upload to my true vB," use of an IP, instead of http://localhost/ seems much more complicated for the average user than is necessary. Certainly permissible, but not usually necessary, or required for the configuration described.

Again, I'm not suggesting what you described would not work, only that it appears to be somewhat of an overkill for a "test forum" on the guy's local PC.

I have XAMPP installed on a WinXP box and a Vista Box, and an WAMP5 installed on an old AMD WinXP box and run our test forum on each. None are accessible from the net. Although, I suppose I could use "Free Dynamic DNS" to access them through my "personal" network, it's far easier to just reach over and push the button on the KVM!

                    Regards,
