Private Forum Shows Never plus Zero Zero

For a private forum, how do I let all users see the last post, post count, and thread count. (They can't enter it without a password.)

All they can see is Never and 0 and 0, which looks bad.

I want all users to see that they are missing the action in the private forum. J

Try setting 'Can view forum' to 'Yes' and 'Can View Thread Content' to 'No' for the appropriate forum and Usergroups.

      Sorry, can we try again?

Setting the Can View Thread Content to No, resulted in the user group being denied access to the posts.

Not to be redundant, I'll try to explain my issue again:

The Forum information columns on the home page, normally display the Last Post, # of Threads and # of Posts for each forum. That's good.

However, the private forums display Last Post- Never and #of Posts- 0 and # of Threads- 0. And that's bad.

I want all users to see Last Post information and # of Posts and # of Threads for the private forums.

      Thanks. J

If you want them to have access to the posts, then I really don't understand what post #1 is all about. Sorry.

Sorry, I'm not talking about access to the actual posts.
I'm always referring only to the display of the # of posts and # of threads and the Last Post teaser on the home page showing all the forums.

I'll try again, Let's focus on post #3 here.

I don't want Guests or any other user for that matter to see the Last Post shown as "Never" for any of the forums on the home page.

For example, I password protected the Villas forum.
I still want all users to see that there is activity in the Villas forum.

I had hoped the screen shot that I attached would help? J

Did you try the suggestions in #2? If so, then this is not possible with password protected forums.

Yes, I tried #2 as quoted above.
              Here's another screen shot.
              Anybody have a suggestion? J

I believe what you want to do requires modifying the code. We cannot officially support code modifications or forums running modified code, however you can try searching or asking for help with this over at www.vbulletin.org.

                  Still looking for help here.

Could I change the word Never to Private?
                  Where would I do this?
Will it effect the use of the word Never anywhere else?

'Never' is a phrase. You would have to change that phrase. Be aware though that this phrase is used in more than one place.

Thanks for your efforts. I've seen this question before, but never an answer. I hoped there would be an easy solution. J

What Ihave just discovered is that if you do not password protect the private forum it does show number of threads and posts but obviously not thr content.

Soon as you password protect it those numbers go to zero's.

I cannot find a way around that and think it is a programming anomaly that needs to be fixed.

I want users who are unable to access that hidden forum to see the activity, and I also want a password for extra security ... so why is it the way it is?

Post #8 still applies. This requires a coding change.
