Well, the admin login isn't entirely lost. The forum is a 3.6.4, has been turned off, the reset password software would not work and apparently the password has changed. Regardless, I am unable to login to the forums as admin or anything else. Is there a way to reset the admin password?

You can use this link to reset your password:

Sorry, Steve, I forgot to mention that the reset portion of the site never worked. It was a conflict with the email system on the host that I never worked out. I will need to use FTP somehow to try to recover the password. Ideas?Comment

No, you cannot recover or reset a password with FTP. Youcould try emptying the passswqord and salt fields for your userid in the user table. This should allow you to log in with no password. I have done this before when all other steps fail. Of cours if it works you should immediately set a new password.Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)

You can also use the following query to reset your password via phpmyadmin
Code:UPDATE user set password = MD5(concat(MD5('<NEWPASSWORD>'), user.salt)) WHERE userid = <USERID>

I just installed the newest vBulletin 5, created 4 admin accounts for our team here and now none of us can get in. We just get the login error over and over. The password reset through email is not working....
