Locked out of AdminCP

My account is able to login to the forum, but when I try and access the admin control panel, it tells me that my account has been locked out for 15 minutes because I've tried the wrong password 5 times. This has been going on all morning. I reset the password using the lostpw utility built-in to vBulletin, and I'm being very careful when I type the password in.


Is there a reason why my account can access the forums and not the AdminCP?

Also, is there a log of the failed login attempts to my account (So I can see the ip's trying to get into the account)

I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions, but I'm a little bit frustrated at this point. Any help would be appreciated.

Run this query in phpMyAdmin:

DELETE FROM strikes

If you use table prefixes then you need to change strikes to include the prefix.

Then try logging in again.

Unfortunately, I don't have phpMyAdmin installed. The site was setup for me by somebody else. I'll wait until the timeout has passed, then try running sql queries from inside vBulletin to first check the contents of the Strikes table, then delete if necessary.

As a side-note, I have attempted to reset my account using the tools.php file

You will need to run that query somehow. Most hosts provide phpMyAdmin or an equivalent MySQL manager to do this.

Would not tools.php work in this case? I do remember testing on my board on how I could lock myself out with certain options turn on / off. I have [not] tested those queries on 3.6.7pl as of yet, but you can run queries though tools.php that is if you add yourself in the config.php to run queries. I am assuming that you can run queries without adding yourself in config.php, but that would be incorrect as you are still running queries from your forum admin. area.

Ahhh, forgot that you can run queries with tools.php. Upload the tools.php script in the 'do_not_upload' folder of the vB zip file to your Admin CP directory and run it from your browser.

Thank you for your help with this Steve and Jose, I found out which mysql manager to use and was able to clear the strikes table. I didn't see 5 failed attempts for my account or the admin account, so I'm somewhat confused why vBulletin would say I had 5 failed attempts, though I did see a strange row, that had no username under the failed attempts.

I seem to be back in with no more problems, though, so I'm happy. Thanks again!

They are rolling strikes. Each one drops off after 15 minutes has elapsed from the time of strike creation.
