Signature Images

Hello, I have a question regarding signature images. I have had them turned off for awhile so as to not be an annoyance, however I would like to give my users the ability to use them. I was wondering that in a fixed template style (not where it stretches to fit the screen, the liquid format) what signature image settings would you use (size (width x height) and file size) on your site to allow users to use images but not have them to big that its an annoyance.

It is personal preference really... I allow images up to 500 X 180 on my site, but everyone that uses it has broadband as well. I figure if people get annoyed by the signatures, they can turn them off in their Admin CP.

I forgot about the ability to turn off the signatures - I will keep that in mind.
