Users showing as in private forums

Whenever I view a user's profile or the "Who's Online" page, it often will show users as posting or reading in private forums -- forums where they have no access. I have confirmed that they have no access to these areas by both testing my usergroup settings and by directly asking users who are showing in these areas. I can't figure out why they are showing as reading/posting in places they don't have access.

Potentially related is that the number of users viewing a forum is often wrong. For instance, our moderator (private) forum will show 3 users viewing, but only one moderator is online at the time.

They will probably be search engines, does the name have a "no access" symbol next to it ?

I've never seen the stop sign, so I don't think so, but I will check.

There's no stop sign, so I realy can't figure out why users would show as being in areas where I've verified that they have no access.
