I set 'Field Required' to 'Yes at registration and profile updating' and it still does not work.
Under 'Field Required' I only have the following options
'Yes at registration and profile updating'
'Yes, Always'
'No''
'No, but display at registration'

Sorry I confused the settings, what you have now is correct and should never show it again to the end users.Comment

I'm having the same issue.
I have a profile field set up for registration. The title is simply "No Spam!"
Then I have a box for the text and it says, "Tell us how you found the site, who you are, who invited you, or otherwise indicate to us that you are a sentient human being. Failure to do so will result in a rejected application."
Then they can take my text out and put their own in.
It's also a "private" field, so once they're in no one can see it but me - and thus it shouldn't be a problem.
No problem, right?
Except that every time a user wants to update their profile, they get this box again and this time it's blank and they have to put something in it.
I want this box to only appear as part of the registration process so that I can view it when I moderate new members. I don't want it to be part of the profiles after that.
The only option I have is "Field Required? Yes, at registration and profile updating."
The other options won't show it at registration. So I want this field to be mandatory during registration, but I don't ever want to see it again after that and neither do my users. Can anyone help me with this?
I did notice that down at the bottom it has some options under Display Page that read:
Edit profile
Options: Log in/Privacy
Options: Messaging/Notification
Options: Thread Viewing
Options: Date/Time
Options: Other
What the Hell is "other?"
So... Two questions here.
1) How do I put a text field in for registration only so that it never appears again?
2) What is "other" under this menu for Display Options?Comment
