global_start plugins not working in navbar

I have an odd problem that started happening on upgrading to vB3.6 - the problem is that my plugins that use the global_start hook don't seem to work on all pages when I put them in the navbar template.

For example, the plugins (includes) work on most pages, but when I go to a page like the logout page or the new posts page (search.php?do=getnew) the includes fail to load.

When I put these variable in the header template they work fine on all pages. Is there a work around for this as I don't really want to put everything in my header template.

    Thanks

If you want a Plugin to work in your navbar template, why not use the navbar hook?
