New Posts not showing up right away

I searched here but couldn't find anything.

I have been trying to optimize settings and messed something up and cannot find it.

The issue is:

When a member posts, it doesn't show up in "New Posts" for quite some time.

It used to right away.

Can someone please help me figure out what setting I messed up?

There is no setting that does this, unless you are moderating posts.

The last post still hasn't shown up under "New Posts" and it has been over 15 minutes.

Strange.

Firefox - Cleared Cache

No luck.

First post just showed after 20 minutes and I am getting Staff complaints that same thing is happening to others.

Should I clear search indexes and rebuild?

Is there a setting that waits for a reply to your own post before it shows up as a new post?

No, there is no such setting. If this is not a browser cache issue, then it's from a modification you've made.

First, reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version:

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

Next, disable all plugins.

Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it. Do you have the same problem?

Did all of the above after I upgraded to 3.6.4 from 3.6.0

Still not showing new posts when you click "New Posts"

I made some major changes in the CP concerning how posts are cached and the date they are kept cached, etc.

I have tried to reverse every setting I changed with no luck.

I have not installed anything or edited anything to cause this; all was done through VBulletin Options in the Admin CP.

We were getting complaints of our vendors logging in after a week and not seeing any new posts so I attempted to change related settings to expand the time new posts are kept marked "unread".

I also adjusted most settings in the CP that read "Server Intensive" to help with speed issues due to now having 18,800 members.

Is there any way to revert just those setting without reverting all of my custom permissions, etc.?

Or, because I expanded the time limits so far on some of the post related time limits, would something have to catch up to itself?

I am in dire need of help here and thank any input.

I just noticed something!

Hitting "New Posts" :

Says: Search Generated 14 minutes ago

Paste of text: Search took 0.10 seconds; generated 14 minute(s) ago.

What setting controls this?

It looks like it is using a cached search for some alloted time and not running a live search?

To me this looks likse it is the "Search Results Sharing" option but mine has been disabled and I am still seeing the "Search Generated XXX minutes ago".

Any ideas?

A post made by the user viewing the new posts page will not appear until there has been a reply to the post.

All posts made within 24 hours can be viewed using the Today's Posts link in the Quick Links menu.

If you keep refreshing the getnew posts page, it will only show you the results that you queried for at that time. You need to actually click on the New Posts link again to fetch new results.

I am not refreshing, and am hitting the link itself.

Our system used to show a new post even by the poster under "New Posts" as soon as they posted.

They are thinking their posts are disapearing now since they do not show up until a reply.

I think this is the whole issue and will look at this further.

Would "Bumping" your own post make it show up under "New Posts"?

They used to but they are not now.

Something is very wrong here.
