    I am really clueless but if I start this thread

    maybe nice people will help me. I have board running phpBB, but it isn't going to work in the long run. I wanted VB in the first place but it didn't have Japanese language support. So anyway here is my first dumb question;

    Note:Before installing vBulletin you need to have PHP and MySQL and have created a database within the MySQL engine to hold vBulletin's data.
    which version of PHP should I download? I don't think I have any so I think PHP 5.2.0???

    I suggest you use the latest stable versions.

    For vBulletin 3.6 the minimum requirements are:
    PHP 4.3.3
    MySQL 4.0.16

      If you have phpBB running you should be able to run vBullletin under normal cirmcumstances.

        OK, thank you so far. I'll have more question later I'm sure.

        I can't find where to dowload My QSL MySQL 4.0.16.

        and if PHP minimum is 4.3.3, then 4.4.4 is ok? or 5.2.0.

        5.2.0 looks newest but maybe it has bugs?

          As Zach says, if you are running a phpBB board then you should have no issue really running a vB one. You don't need to 'download' anything unless you want to run vB on your own PC for development purposes.

          I would go ahead with your purchase of vB and install it on your current host.

            Kittychan,
            go into the Control Panel of your website hosting account, and it will tell you what version of PHP and mySQL is running; as said by others, if you're already running phpBB there should be no problem at all with running vBulletin.
