    Multiple logins required?

    My forum members are sometimes having to log in 2 or 3 times before the login works.

    Login attempts are correct (no error message or warning that login attempts are being used up) but the confirmation box doesn't appear and you are returned to the forum index page, not logged in.

    I'm running 3.6.4 along with CMPS and PhotoPost Pro 5.5, if these are of any relevance?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Ian

    This shouldn't happen with the default vB code and templates so it's certainly possible your add-ons are causing this.

    Change CKEditor Colors to Match Style (for 4.1.4 and above)

      Actually, thinking about it, I think it's a subdomain/cookie problem.

      If you arrive at the login page via a subdomain url, the problem happens. If you go to a page via a native forum url, it doesn't.

      I'm not that technical, but the subdomains (for our PhotoPost gallery and vBulletin) are:

      http://forum.dpnow.com ====> http://dpnow.com/forum2
      http://galleries.dpnow.com ====> http://dpnow.com/galleries

      also

      http://dpnow.com/Forums.html ====> http://dpnow.com/forum2/cmps_index.php

      So what's the best vB cookie setup to make these work properly?

        The best vB cookie setup is the cookie domain blank and the path set to /.

          That's what they are set to.

          The problem is probably our fault. We have subdomain redirects set up, but instead of the redirected url being the subdomain form, they are translated to the native form.

          So, although we have the subdomain: forum.dpnow.com, if you went there, you'd end up at dpnow.com/forum2 and this is, I believe, where the cookie confusion happens.

          Ideally, if you go via forum.dpnow.com, you should arrive at forum.dpnow.com/index.php, not dpnow.com/forum2/index.php - is that right?

            Cookies are domain specific and as far as cookies are concerned forum.dpnow.com and dpnow.com are two different domains and cookies cannot be shared between them.

              I had the same problem. Solved it by changing the cookie prefix from 'bb' to 'aa'.
