    Attachment permission for guests

How Can I add the default not-Login (guests) usergroup to the attachment permission page in ACP, so that I can allow guest to see thumbnails and download certain files with certain extensions in specific forums? Yup I know how to allow guests to download and view pic attachments and thumbnails with forum permission. But it's not extension-specific..

Guests can not have attachments. As far as I know it is also not possible to add this feature using a plugin from vborg.

      you can change it in

Usergroup Manager > find guest usergroup

Can Download Attachments <-------- check yes

      also

I can do the same thing in forum permission to make guest can view and download pics in certain forums.

My old question was how to limit it to certain file extensions....

Apologies, I thought you meant to allow upload of attachments.
Yes, you can allow guests to view attachments, you can modify attachments permissions here:

Admin Control Panel > Attachments > Attachment Permissions > each .file extention is listed there per usergroup. Modify the guest usergroup for those that should be no and set it to no.

Floris, there is no guest usergroup in there.

All the default usergoups are listed in there except Guest.

Btw, any idea how to allow guests view the thumbnail but can't download the attachment?

Apparently it is not possible to change it for guests based on file extensions, only allow guests to view attachments.

I've been looking for this answer too.

This would cut down on hotlinking of attachments.

very strange that is not an option available without modifying the default vBulletin files.

It seems like this is a bug in the system that many people are looking for an answer to.

I noticed Unregistered / Not Logged In is missing in Attachment Permissions as well.

It doesn't make sense that we can limit registered members, but cannot limit unregistered members for specific attachments.

I have that same issue of hotlinking attachments.

Apparently the authors of the program do not care whether there is ever a resolution. Seriously... over 4 years now. lol

Slightly OT but you cannot turn off guest view or download of attachments in the CMS at all. It's wide open.
