How do I add snowflakes to my forum

with the holiday season around the corner I want to start working on a holiday theme for my forums and one of the things I'd like to add to it is a javascript that makes snow fall down on the forum, I used to have this for my phpBB board so I already have a nice working javascript for this, I just need to know where to put the code to get it to work.

    Code:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="snow.js"></script>
Where do I upload the javascript .js and where do I put that line of code so that the snow only shows up on the main page of the forums?

You can view the working version on phpBB here

I had snow flakes last year and it was cute for a little while, then users starting complaining that it slowed things up.
It would be nice if it just snowed for a minute then stopped.

What part of the js script do you alter to make the flakes slightly bigger?
