How do I remove the users viewing note?

Is there an option to disable the note beside the name of the forum which tells how many users are viewing that forum?

I already have that option set to 'No'. I am talking about the note beside each forum on the index page that says how many people are currently viewing a specific forum - for example (24 Viewing). Can this be turned off or do I have to edit the template?

To do that you'd have to turn off this option:
AdminCP -> vBulletin Options -> Forums Home Page Options -> Display Logged in Users?

There's no setting for that specifically.

Comment out or remove this code:
                Code:
                <if condition="$show['browsers']"><span class="smallfont">(<phrase 1="$forum[browsers]">$vbphrase[x_viewing]</phrase>)</span></if>
in your forumhome_forumbit_level2_post and forumhome_forumbit_level1_post templates.
                Best Regards
