Promotions question (I think)

I have a large board for years but have never used the promotions or those features.

I want to be able to create a private forum/area that someone will not be able to access until they have 100 posts minimum.

I want to accomplish this without messing with to many permissions if possible to the regular registered member because we have a ton of forum sections and a ton of usergroup permissions.

What is the easiest or best way to accomplish this

1. Create a new usergroup with the appropriate overall permissions:

Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> Add New Usergroup

2. Set the appropriate usergroup permissions for the forum in question:

Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Forum Permissions

3. Create a Promotion to promote users that reach this post level to that group:

Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Promotions
