Too many connections - database error

    Hello,

Sorry about opening a new thread on this subject - too many connections error. I did check the other threads in this subject but could not find a solution and hence opened this thread.

I have my hosting company set the max limit as 50000 user per account. My forum site is not too big, roughly 1500 members and about 10 to 15 guests at any point of time. I am sure the number of users connected to the database at any point of time will not exceed 50000.

But I am receiving the vbulletin database error - too many connections.

    I have also included $config['MasterServer']['usepconnect'] = 0; this in the config.php.

Please let me know what needs to be done at the MySQL database to fix this isse.

    Thanks in advance,
    Induslady

just a question out of the blue

have u asked your isp/serverhost about the limits on the sql ??
They might have a lower limit than you "think" they have

      Is sql limit different?

      Hi,

      Thank you for your response.

My hosting company mentioned about 50000 as the max limit on the server per account (I am using a shared server).

Is the sql limit a different number?

      Please let me know.

      Regards,

Ask your host how many persistant connections to the database you can have.

Also look at how many bots you have crawling. Could also be any mod that isn't closing a table.

This is the same problem I have, I think its a mod not closing down a table. In fact i think i know which mod it is. How can i fix it?

Are you sure its max connections and not max questions?

Its possible that there are too many connections globally for the server, if your host had imposed a limit the error would be more specific.

I havent had this problem until I installed a mod not too long ago. So I doubt its my host, unless of course just recently they are having too many connections globally.

I would just uninstall the mod and be done with it, but I love the mod, its the arcade.

It is, in fact, the server. This is for all MySQL connections, not just yours. You need to contact your host about this.

Look in phpinfo and check how many max_connections you have.
