I've been running a forum powered by vbulletin for a year and a half now, and problems never seem to stop showing up. My board is not considered to be large, as my members do not exceed 2000.
My first version was 3.0.7 and now i've upgraded to vb3.5 which resulted in a dramatic increase of the errors and problems. So far i've changed too many hosting companies, having in mind that maybe the problems i had was really a problem of the hosting companies. I had hosting plans with Powweb, Inmotionhosting, godaddy, midphase and i am sure i am forgetting a couple more hosting companies. I was furious trying to find a solution to put a stop on the many problems i was facing. Therefore i've decided to go on a Virtual Private Server, and now here i am. I have a VPS (spry.com), 256ram, Mysql 4.0.25, PHP 4.3.3 and apache 1.3 and still i am recieving problems, with the only difference, now i have MORE problems.
My problems :
1- system resources always on 99% !!! That is not possible, as on previous servers with lower cpu capabilities i didnt have these problems.
2- Lost connection to MySQL server during query : One of my biggest problems. I've changed the connections so many times (increased and decreased), i've turned off persistent connections in the config.php
3- My website started to give the option to download the php files instead of opening them in the browser window!!! : At first i thought this was not a problem. I did a little search in vb.com and i've followed the solution given by Zachery here http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showp...6&postcount=15 but still the same!
I am so tired with these problems, and as i said to Mr. Colin Frei on a support ticket regarding these problems, i am willing to give root access to vbulletin suport so they can take a look and let me know whats going on cause obviously, 10 different hosting companies can't be wrong! It must be a vbulletin's problem.
Can someone please help me to fix this problems ?
