    Sporadic Errors

Although most users are having no problems accessing our site, we are getting a few of these every hour:

    Database error in vBulletin :
mysql_connect(): Access denied for user 'xxxx@'yyyy (using
    password: NO)
    /web/includes/class_core.php on line 279
    MySQL Error :
    Error Number :
    Date : Sunday, March 26th 2006 @ 02:09:21 PM
    Script :
    http://www.abc.com/image.php?u=3807&dateline=1106192417
    Referrer :
    http://www.abc.com/showthread.php?t=123261&page=2&highlight=CLUB+MED+
    TURKS+CAICOS
    IP Address : 208.201.xxx.xxx
    Username :
    Classname : vb_database

Of course our DB has a password which is set in config.php and I have been unable to generate an error myself despite many, many reloads.

Update: I've just encountered this error myself while in the ACP using the plugin manager. After clicking the link again there were no issues so it would seem that at times vbulletin is not connecting with the password paramater?

This is a server issue. If the info on config.php is correct, then for some reason the server is occasionally denying these connections. You should contact your host about this.

        Steve,
I imagine you are right. However, I run vbulletin on my own servers so I am the host. This is the first time I've ever seen an error like this though, any insight from past customers?

        Thanks.

The fact that this is sporadic indicates a server issue. If there was something wrong with vB or the info in config.php, then it would happen all the time.

And honestly, I don't think I've ever heard of anyone getting a 'access denied' error sporadically like this. It usually works or doesn't work.

Hey Ted, the error message occurs during an upgrade when not all of the files have been uploaded properly, especially includes/init.php.

This could be that you includes/class_core.php file is the latest version, but includes/init.php isn't. Upload all the files from the vBulletin .zip file again, making sure you upload them 100%, overwrite existing files.
