Censoring words not in list

I see some words are being *** but they are not in our list
for example 'class' and 'passion' are both being censored.

Ive rebuilt post cache too but still they filter.

How to fix?

if you mean the 3-letter word, then yes, that is in the list of censored words.

Check the description in the Admin CP:

Type all words you want censored in the field below. Do not use commas to separate words, just use spaces. For example, type "dog cat boy", rather than "dog, cat, boy."

If you type "dog", all words containing the string "dog" would be censored (dogma, for instance, would appear as "***ma"). To censor more accurately, you can require that censors occur only for exact words. You can do this by placing a censor word in curly braces, as in {dog}. Signifying "dog" in the curly braces would mean that dogma would appear as dogma, but dog would appear as "***". Thus your censor list may appear as: cat {dog} {barn} barn

Do not use quotation marks and make sure you use curly braces, not parentheses, when specifying exact words.

You will need to Rebuild the Post Cache after making changes to update existing posts.

Unless you have installed hacks or plugins then it has to be an issue with how you hav entered this data in your censor list. Have you installed any hacks or plugins?

Note also that once a word has been censored, changes to the censor list are not retoractive to previous posts. You need post a new message to test this out.

just the plain dwnld of the software.
only today we see this glich on two words (class + passion). Neither is in our list, and all words listed are spaced (no commas).

shall I submit to the bug forum?

This is definitely not a bug. Rather it's most likely in the way you have entered the data. Clear out your censor list then try a new post.

Then you either have replacement variables that are causing this, or you have installed a hack or plugin that is causing this. This doesn't happen with the default vB ccode, an empty censor list and no replacement variables.

it was the three letter word a s s that is found in class and passion that was triggering the filter. I put it in {} and now its ok

Having a similar issue here. I have a brand new board so this isn't too big a deal but I created a news post that edited the word associations. I went back and put a s s (without the spaces) in {} and rebuilt the post cache but I'm still getting ***ociation in that post. Works just fine with new posts though. Was there something else I should have done to fix the old one?

Works just fine with new posts though.

Once a post is censored the data is changed in the database, so the only way to fix old posts is to manually edit them.

It would censor the new words you just entered, but it would not undo words that have already been censored.
