The mailing function returned an error while trying to send the mail.

E-mail notifications stopped coming yesterday. I get the following when I run a dianostic test:

    -----------------------------------
    Pertinent PHP Settings SMTP:localhostsendmail_from:Nonesendmail_path:/usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i
    Help http://www.talkphd.net/forums/cpstyl...lt/cp_help.gif
Results The mailing function returned an error while trying to send the mail.Check your mail server to
ensure it is configured correctly to allow PHP to send mail from it. You should also check your mail server's error log for more diagnostic information.
    -----------------------------------

Still a relative noob, so have no idea how to fix this. Please help! Thanks!

You need to check the mail server logs to see what the exact problem is. If you are on a shared server you'lll need to ask your host to do this.
