displaying time left before cron runs

Is it possible to display the time left (in mutes) before a cron's next run time?

At 3:00am every morning my backup runs during which time the forum stops responding for about 2 minutes. In the header template a few minutes before 3:00am I display "expect a 2 minute delay at 3:00am". Is this something you would like, if so I can provide the code.
