Could not create file system directory to hold your attachment.

We just moved to a new server. We moved all of our attachments over. We've set the attachment folder and all sub-folders to 777. When we try to upload an attachment, we get the error "Could not create file system directory to hold your attachment."

We do not have any hacks or plugins, and we have reloaded fresh files.

Would anyone know how I can change this?

    Thanks

We're still having this problem. Does anyone have a suggestion?

    Thanks

You cannot store attachments in the file system if your server is running with Safe Mode enabled or with open_basedir restrictions.

Thanks for the reply. I checked the upload diagnostics in the admin panel and it says that safe mode is off and open_basedir = none. It was able to upload the sample without errors. We are also able to upload avatars and profile pictures. We just can't upload attachments or at least we cant "create file system to hold attachments".

For some reason the chmod on the attachment directory is not extending to new subdirectories. Try chmoding the attachment directory like this:

          chmod -R attachment

I have the same problem, but the chmod command doesn't work either. Any suggestions?
