In my forum there is a problem with the à character. What happens is that whenever it is used, it gets combined with the character after it.
You can see this happening here http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=96696
where the first post I typed "à b c d" and the second "àbcd".
But in Internet Explorer they appear as "àb c d" and "àcd" respectively, having the character I typed immediately the à disapear. Yet, when I view the page source in Notepad, the second characters do appear, but the à has turned into an uppercase à (and not the different type of accent).
This does not seem to happen with any other accented characters.
My web server is giving Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8
and in the language settings of the admin CP the HTML Character Set is UTF-8
Internet Explorer is also set as UTF-8
Another thread showing this problem http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=96067
The à character seems to work fine in this vBulletin forum. Can anyone say what I am doing wrong in mine?
