Hide edited by note on edited messages not working?

I have a little problem with the setting of "Show edited by note on edited messages?"

For all Admins and supermoderators I've set this to NO, but it does show for one of my moderators. He's primary usergroup is supermoderators, but he is also a member of other groups where the setting is set to YES.

I always thought that the primary usergroup settings overrule the others in case those have lesser rights. Am I wrong?

Please help me out on this one

Actually, a YES will always override a NO (unless you're doing something with a banned usergroup).

Remember too, that it will always display a edited by note if you enter a reason for the edit.

Ok, so in that case I can set all additional usergroups also to NO, because al registered users have set it to YES.
      Thank for this superfast reply

        Yes exactly.
Generally set them to No, and if you want one usergroup to show the edited by notices, set that usergroup to Yes and it'll override.

I am not sure i understand you correct. You want a regular member to see the note, but Moderators and Admins should not see it? That would not make much sense, normal is to do it the other way round.

Marco, the permissions is for a user to have the note when he edits the post.
If there is a note, everyone will see it.

I had the same problem, but realized to set the secondary groups to "NO" to fix it. Thanks!

With this being said, will a "YES" in the secondary usergroup to "Can Edit Own Posts", yet a "No" in their primary usergroup also allow them to edit any of their posts anywhere on the site, or just only in the forum that particular secondary usergroup has special permission to access?

What if both the primary and secondary usergroups are set to no and it is still showing them b/c that's what's happening to me. I checked both usergroups that the person is in, both are set to not show the edited by message and yet it still shows. WHY? How do I fix it???

I have set both to no but it still displays "last edited".

That setting is not retroactive and will not remove existing notes.

What if you rebuilt your posts?

That will not remove the 'Edited by'. The only thing that would do that is to re-edit the posts, but do not leave a reason.
