    Read Marking Type - DB vs. Cookie - how cpu intensive?

    AdminCP->

    Thread/Forum Read Marking Type ->
    1. Database (automatic forum marking) - this option is the same as a previous option, but forums are automatically marked as read when the last new thread is read.

      This is the most usable option for end users, but most processor intensive.

    Nice, but what kind on impact? Minor.. major...?

    There's no way to say that generally, as it depends on the size of your forum, activity and a few further factors.

      I'm not sure if this is a stupid question but if I choose that database method what kind of read marking method is being used when a user is unregistered - cookie?

        Yes, guests will always use the cookie based mark read system.
