Restore a backup

Just use SSH to restore the database...it works better anyhow.

command from prompt is:

mysql -u 'username' -p 'dbname' < /path/to/backup/file.sql

That will do it

Sorry, there has never been a restore option in vBulletin.

I've been using vBulletin since 2.2.5, there has never been a restore option by default.

I think the answer to this is that running php backups is fine for small forums, however, larger forums will timeout.

The preferred way of doing backups is with using SSH.

If you do not have access to SSH, I suggest contacting your hosting provider and requesting it be added. If they are not willing to, let them know you will be looking elsewhere for hosting.

Basicly what xtreme has said, php is incapable of restoring large chunks of data...
