    Display images in post

    How can I set uploaded images to display in posts rather than appear as links that must be clicked?

    Additionally, if uploaded images *are* displayed as links, how can I set them to always open in a new window? (IE internet options to reuse window or not have no effect)

    TIA

    I believe what you're after is thumbnails. Go to:

    Admin CP --> vBulletin Options --> Message Attachment Options --> Enable Thumbnails --> Yes

    Then go to:

    Admin CP --> vBulletin Options --> Server Settings and Optimization Options --> GD Version

    ... set it to the likely GD version that is displayed there.

    Finally, you need to rebuild the thumbnails:

    Admin CP --> Import & Maintenance --> Update Counters --> [Rebuild Attachment Thumbnails]

    As for opening in a new window, go to:

    Admin CP --> Attachments --> Extensions & Sizes

    ... go through each attachment type and set Open this attachment in a new browser window? to Yes.

      I've been through this section and whether I Edit or Add a New Attachment Type, I don't have an *Open this attachment in a new browser window?*.

      The only field that isn't a size specification reads "Mime Type: This controls what your browser does with the attachment. Leave blank if you don't know what to put here and the user will generally be prompted to download the attachment."

      Can this be set somehow to open in a new window?

        I'm quite positive that the option is there. Are you sure you're on vB 3.5? It should look like this:

        [ATTACH]15826[/ATTACH]

        If you're on vB 3.0.x:

        Go to:

        Admin CP --> Styles & Templates --> Style Manager --> « » --> Postbit Templates

        Edit the postbit_attachment template and find:

        HTML Code:
        <a href="attachment.php?$session[sessionurl]attachmentid=$attachment[attachmentid]">
        Replace it with:

        HTML Code:
        <a href="attachment.php?$session[sessionurl]attachmentid=$attachment[attachmentid]" target="_blank">
        Repeat again (if you want it to work for moderated attachments and thumbnails) in the postbit_attachmentmoderated and postbit_attachmentthumbnail templates.

          Must I have thumbnails enabled to access it?

            I believe that you do need thumbnails enabled for this feature.

                      that would be OK if the default could be changed
