<IMG> and <A HREF tags not working properly. How do I fix?

    Hi,
we have a forum public to view but only mods can post in it.
HTML is enabled so we can put DVD reviews from another one of our websites in it e.g.

Banned in many countries, this 30 year-old Tobe Hooper directed film still retains both affection and disdain in equal measures for the many who have seen it. Love it or loathe it, it is nothing less than fair to say that the Texas Chainsaw Massacre is an instantly recognisable title through word of mouth notoriety alone.</p><p>Loosely based on a true incident, the story follows the “fortunes” of a small group of travelling teenagers. After picking up (and subsequently ejecting) a roadside hiker who turns out to be slightly disturbed, our group find themselves at an isolated house. The occupants, a slightly odd family, including the now legendary Leatherface waste no time whatsoever introducing themselves in a less than friendly manner.</p><p>This for me is a film of several facets. Firstly it has the amateurish feel and look, of many of the nastier films of the age. The dialogue is hardly satisfying, which in part is (for me) the “fault” of the no-name cast. Similarly, I felt the camera work was, for the most part laughably crude. Yet it contains moments of extreme violence that still retains that explicit shock factor. Even today I still wince when the first victim receives a hammer blow from Leatherface. Where I feel it succeeds is in its no compromise approach. There is no explanation given for the reason or cause of the actions of Leatherface, nor is there the usual gratifying ending. It is simply the story of a nightmare situation that is beyond any civilised comprehension. It is what it is, take it or leave it. Although not one of my absolute favourites of the genre, in my opinion it rightly deserves the notoriety and classic status to which it is attached.</p></TD></TR></TABLE>

Although touted as being “painstakingly restored from the original 16mm ECO negatives”, one must assume that these “original negatives” must be in pretty poor order. Obvious improvements in stability aside this looks very much like VHS. The print shows plenty of damage with continuous marks and scratches. The level of detail is poor, being almost non-existent in dark scenes. The colour palette was found to muted and unnatural in appearance. Colours were also found to be poorly contained, with obvious signs of bleeding, and the level of contrast was never more than low. Compression related artefacts were also present throughout many scenes, both light and dark! On the upside, edge enhancements were not overly apparent.</p><p>In it’s defence this is as good as I have seen this film, but it cannot in fairness be considered as anything other than poor.</p></TD></TR></TABLE>

mix, the latter is hugely preferable and a massive improvement. The original track (Dolby Digital 2.0 @ 192kbs) is thin, harsh sounding and a fair match to the general image quality; it is the epitome of lo-fi and a perfect example of the budget nature of the movie. The best that can be said of this is that the dialogue is reasonably intelligible! The new mix (Dolby Digital 2.0 PL flagged @ 192kbs) however is almost pleasing by comparison. There is mild width to the soundstage, and indeed depth, the rears whilst not overly busy do from time to time chirp in. Neither a showcase of dynamic or LFE prowess, the limited frequency range at least is more even handed, giving a less grating and more comfortable listen.</p><p>No doubt if you have watched The Phantom Menace or LOTR the night before, you may well be forgiven for thinking something has “gone wrong”, even when selecting the new mix! However comfort yourselves by giving the original mix 5 minutes of your time and then switching back to the newer track. Small mercy’s etc.</p>

This is an enjoyable listen indeed, being informative, well grounded and humorous. The 6 deleted scenes and 3 alternate scenes, all with individual text based introductions/explanations (although no audio) were a worthy watch. A Study in Filming is a 2 minutes short that shows how many angles, and how much footage is required for a 20-second shot. 7 trailers, 4 for this film and 3 for the sequel are included. A 2-minute Blooper reel is next – and you thought the image quality of the feature was bad! Props and Sets is a 6 minute, dialogue free, look at Leatherface’s house. 56 Film and Production Stills and 25 Poster and Lobby Cards make up the extra’s list.</p></TD></TR></TABLE>

But the images and hyperlinks are not appearing properly. The images show up as the broken image icon and the hyperlinks show up as the full URL.
This works in vBulleting 2.3.0 but not vB3 RC 4.

    What's going on, please? TIA

You should either put the <img ...> inside the [ url= ]!here![ / url ] tags, or link the image properly. You can't add [url] inside the src="" of the <img /> tag. If this worked in 2.x than you were lucky

Hmmm -there was some [URL type nonsense parsed in the original post of mine (above) by vbulletin even though I unchecked the parsing option and put the HTML in the <HTML tag. Putting it in tht <CODE tag fixed the problem.
      Anyway.
Basically all links are getting parsed and processed even though I don't want them to and uncheck the parsing checkbox option.
Straight forward HTML is getting screwed up by vB when it's posted.
This may even need moving to the bugs section.
Try putting an HTML image tag which points to 'http://...' as the image source in a post in a forum where HTML is allowed. It doesn't work.

Don't use the WYSIWYG editor which will automatically parse URL's and break what you are trying to do. This auto-parsing is beyond our control and can't be changed.

Ok, thanks everyone. By disabling the WYSIWYG and posting, the page is handled correctly (http://www.adultdvdforums.com/forums...d.php?t=114266)

Ah ok so this means turning off the WYSIWYG options for the entire board in able to post HTML and have it un affected?

                In the vbulletin options :
                Enable Standard & WYSIWYG Controls

actually enables the WYSIWYG controls and there is no standard 'option' as such as implied

If you look in the User's CP it lists the editors as Basic (No Toolbar), Enhanced (Standard Toolbar similar to the one in vBulletin 2.X) and WYSIWYG.
