Moving attachments from database to filesystem.

I see that there is an option to move attachements from the database to the filesystem, is there any advantage (or disadvantage) to doing this?

I would guess that then the database would be smaller and easier to manage . Some web hosters have limits of around 30 MB on database sizes.

Database size isn't a problem where I host, though DB backups would be quicker I guess. Was wondering if there is any performance advantage to doing this. I will try it and see how it works.
