threaded display style removed?

is there a way to disable the threaded look completly? and also to remove the quoted reply links (that should be easy, template change i think...)?
firefly had a great point related to quoted replies but i think it will overload the database the regular quote replies...
imagine if everyone replies with a quote... all that extra text will double the actual posts all the time.. that means the database will also double... if not triple, compared to vB2 size.

i personally believe it should be an admin option to remove totally the quoted-threaded system.
what do you think? i'm curious to hear your oppinion.

As freddie has pointed out several times, you will be able to shut off threaded view in the Admin CP.
