Creating a second site with a common user table

I am currently using vB 3.0.17 (heavily patched) in my site, and I need to create another site. This one would be external to my existing one, so I need to buy another license.

My question has more to do with the way the two sites should be organized.

I would prefer to use the existing vB version I am using in my current site, since I am very familiar with the coding scheme, while I am totally ignorant about the scheme adopted after vB 3.5. However that is not mandatory, since the two sites will be independent, with one (significant) issue.

I would like to have every member of my existing site (current and future) being a member of the new site too.

Is there anyway I can copy the information found in my current "user" table to the new database (I assume I can export or backup that table only and import it in the new database).

But my real question is how can I automatically add every user registering at the current site in the new one?

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
