    Similar threads

I've never turned this function on in my vbulletin but I would like to test it out. I've always been worried about server processes.

    I enabled all the functions:

forum is using vb search function
    Show Similar Threads? yes
Turn on Automatic Similar Thread Search yes

I've double checked showthread template and the "call" is there in the template.

But although I've enabled it, nothing is showing up. Did I miss a step?

I just discovered I now need to update similar threads in maintenance. I just started the process but it is taking forever to get to

    Updating Similar Threads

    Processing: 1331
    Processing: 1343

    And I have Threads: 292,439

if I don't update the similar thread counter, will it start finding threads from this point forward? Or for this to work do I need to spend the next week updating similar threads in the counter/maintenance?

Yikes. Not sure I can stay online long enough to run this thing on my vb. Any other ideas?

It runs a search based on the title of the first post for every thread, it will take some time and i don't believe there is any other way to rebuild this data.

Well, I ran it all night long. At one point it logged me out (cookies expired). Logging back in this morning it started back where I was...at thread 10,003.

THis is 3% of our threads.

There should be someway to update this similar thread function, especially by starting from <date> or <threadid> so that I could just go back in time for the last year in threads and not all threads since 2000.

        But I guess not.
