Attachments in Admincp

Because my forum is art related, I have a huge number of attachments. When I go into Admincp, I have problems with functions referencing them.

Specifically:

Moderate Attachments
Attachment Statistics
Repair/Optimize Tables - Attachment

I used to get time-outs despite having my isp up the time-out. Now I'm simply getting "page cannot be displayed."

I have version 3.0.13.

This is a server time and/or memory limit. To temporarily up your limits edit your includes/config.php file and add these lines right under the <?php line:

ini_set('memory_limit', 64 * 1024 * 1024);
ini_set("max_execution_time", "600");

Also I *strongly* recommend that you upgrade to at least 3.0.17 immediately for security reasons.

Ok, thanks. I'll check it out.

As I understand, to upgrade to the newest version, I will have to reimplement the custom look of my Forum. I have not changed any php code (hacked? is that the word), only customized thru templates and header/footer. http://forum.portraitartist.com

Is that correct? If so, it's a major effort to do this and I have to hire someone. With around 200 clients, I just don't have the time to spend on learning how to do it myself.

Will there ever be a point where new versions do not require one to reimplement their customizations? I personally find it frustrating because I already work 7 days a week on my main business - the forum is not my business at all.

And, why are there always security updates? Is it because of things the vbulletin programmers did not think of? Or something else?

Upgrading will always overwrite any hacks or changes you made to the vB files. Upgrading will not overwrite any add-ons through Plugins, although you may find that your plugins will need to be updated to work with the latest version of vB.

Also upgrading will not overwrite custom templates. Nonetheless you should seriously consider reverting any updated templates to get the full advantage of all bug fixes and improvements.
