Password protect forum / search engines

If I password protect one forum, does this keep out the search engines for that forum?

I've tested this feature and when I enter the password for the forum, I'm not allowed in - I enter the password and it processes and then stays on the password page.

Yes, that forum would not allow search engines access.

Are you running the default vBulletin files, without plugins?

Not totally sure what you mean by "default" - I have customized the colors and put in my own header. There are no plug-ins.

        Try the following:
Add a new Style and select 'No Parent Style'. This will force it to use the default templates. Switch to this Style and see if the error still occurs.

I've never done this before - will this make my whole forum look different to all viewers? Or is this just something only I can see? I'm not sure how specifying different styles works and how do I get to that different style after specified - or do I just go to any normal page.

You should be able to add a style without it affecting other users. Then, select that style in your UserCP.

I created the new style for the forum in question and re-established the password. The style as seen here showed for that forum. I went to logon with the password and the same thing happened - it though about it briefly, emptied the password field and stayed on the same page.
