URGENT: How do I transfer my 30mb database to a new host?

I have to change hosts because mine is shutting down. I found my new host, but my database is 30mb and I can't transfer that big database through phpmyadmin. I tried cutting it apart into smaller files so it can be uploaded, and mysql has a huge fit on the new host. I cannot figure this out, can I do to get my huge database transferred to my new host?

The only reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. Please see the instructions here:

This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result in PHP timeouts errors and an incomplete backup file.

Ideally you should have shell access to the old and new server. Then you can backup and restore the database using shell commands. See the manual:

You can get the SQL package using SSH, then upload it using FTP to the new host; finally, use a custom script or something to execute the massive SQL... Though, I don't know if it'll work or not.

Can I download the database through phpmyadmin and upload it with SSH?

SSH is just access to the shell, if you have downloaded the database with phpmyadmin (which it may not be complete). You then upload the file via ftp to the new host, login with SSH, and restore it.

My backup last night (compressed tarball) was 3.6 Gb....

I'm pretty sure the database is complete. I asked my current host for access to SSH and he said that I can't do it because he leases server space and he'll have to send in a drivers licence copy and a whole bunch of crap. I really don't even know how to use SSH.

you can try this program and split your database and upload in pieces with phpmyadmin

I'm sure you don't want to hear this but I would strongly recommend a different host. You really need shell access and any half-decent hosting plan will give it to you.

I used that program, and I tried uploading the pieces on my server since I already cancelled the host I had. Anyway, when I went to upload the pieces (I made them 2mb each) the first one went fine, and the rest of them say No SQL after phpmyadmin finished uploading the file.

I'm looking for a host with shell access, but so far the only one I found costs to much.
